Scoundrels & Scalawags - Jerry Fisk Knife Show

A Fisk Knife

This weekend is my friend and neighbor, Jerry Fisk, knife extravaganza. I had the opportunity to offer the welcome greeting this morning to the group of prospective buyers.

Southwest Arkansas has always been a center for knife makers. James Black is credited with producing the Bowie knife for Colonel Bowie in Historic Washington in 1831. Knife making classes are still hosted every year at Historic Washington State Park. Texarkana Community College has a School of Bladesmithing course in Texarkana.

James Cook, an Arkansas Living Treasure, and many others in southwest Arkansas make knives. Some Fisk knives are incredibly fancy and expensive but my favorite knives that Jerry makes are field grade knives - knives made to be used. It was a good morning and I am always happy to have good people from out of the area here spending their money helping our economy.
