This morning I drove to Mena to Rich Mountain Community College where I spent about an hour there in a good, productive meeting with Dr. Hatcher, Dr. Rook and others as they gave me an overview of the college, the needs and accomplishments as well as some of their hopes for the future. They were well prepared and did a good job in presenting their information and in answering my questions. I believe in our two year colleges. I have said it before but if we are going to compete in this global economy we must use our two year schools to re-educate our workforce and to prepare new workers.
The Mena Lion's Club meets at noon on Fridays at the Lion's Club golf course. I attended the meeting once this year during the campaign and really enjoyed it and I was glad to get the opportunity to go back. Dr Rook had invited me to speak to them today and I was happy to oblige. (I asked my friend Ken Marshall to take a picture with my camera so that I could put it on here - he said he wasn't good at it and he may have been right - there is not a picture in my camera.)
The drive to Polk County was nice also, leaves are just beginnning to change. I look forward to making the trip again in two or three weeks.
