I drove to Little Rock yesterday for a meeting at the Arkansas Insurance Department where they were presenting their proposed legislation for the upcoming session. There were more people in attendance than I had expected. Quite a few attorney types in nice suits.
A goodly number of the Department's legislative ideas are just corrections and/or adopting the National Association of Insurance Commissioner's model legislation. There is an attempt by all of the state insurance regulators to provide consistency in their laws and rules from state to state in order to try to keep the federal government out of the insurance regulation business.
My friends, former State Representative George French and his wife Jeannie, and I met for some mexican food before I drove back home last night.
