As the remnants of Hurricane Ike passed through last night we were treated to some pretty impressive wind and rain. As I have been driving around the area it seems we are pretty fortunate that there is no more damage than there is. Which is not to say that there are not people who are suffering right now, it is just to say that it seems to me that it could have been worse. I believe that there may be a few that are still without electricity but I know that there are crews out working and hopefully it won't be too long. The electricity was off at our house from about 8:00 last night to 1:00 this morning. We did not have to fire the generator up, a couple of "coal oil" lamps and we sat around visiting until bedtime.
