Joe Sutton fundraiser at Lockesburg Saturday

Time after time I have said that there is not a better place in the world to live than southwest Arkansas. The Lord said to "love your neighbor as yourself" - everyday the people of southwest Arkansas live and follow that command.

Yesterday the friends and family of Joe Sutton gathered at Lockesburg to help raise funds for Joe. I understand that he needs some surgery and the funds raised will be used to help pay for the surgery.

I arrived at the Lockesburg Volunteer Fire Department at about 5:00 p.m. for the cake auction and a BBQ dinner. It was so hot but people just kept coming and it wound up a pretty good crowd. Gary Fant was the auctioneer and I wound up being his helper. The cake auction raised $1069. Gary worked his tail off selling cakes - thanks Gary and thanks to all the volunteers.

Democratic candidate for prosecuting attorney Bryan Chesshir was there working the crowd as well as his independent opponent in the General Election Jay Metzger.

The day was just proof that it is better to live here in southwest Arkansas than anywhere else.
