Hunger Day at the Capitol

Thursday was Hunger Day at the Capitol. The Arkansas Hunger Alliance and the Senate and House Hunger Caucuses hosted a "food packaging" event for the hungry. In the basement of the Capitol we, and a lot of volunteers, packed 10,000 macaroni and cheese packages. Two cups of noodles, one scoop of soy protein, and a powdered cheese packet went into the packages. It turned out to be great fun. I appreciate my Senate Hunger Caucus Co-Chair, Senator Irvin, and the energy and commitment she brings to the cause (I also appreciate the House Chairs).

A special note of thanks to Wal Mart for providing the funds to purchase the materials needed. Time after time Wal Mart shows it's commitment to feeding those who are hungry. I appreciate them.  In a state that raises as much food as our farmers do here in Arkansas we should not have as many kids at risk of being hungry as we do.
