David Hausam and Dove Hunting

I left Nashville before 7:00 a.m. Saturday heading toward Tontitown in northwest Arkansas. The purpose of the trip was to make what has become an annual tradition for the Waste Management landfill and their annual opening morning dove hunt. The hunt is used as a way Waste Management thanks their customers and is used to raise money for the Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation. I appreciate Kevin and George including me in the hunt.

You may recall my friend David Hausam worked for Waste Management and he had been instrumental in helping organize the event in years past. David died this year and his not being there was hard on me. I truly loved David and I think of him a lot, especially on weekend mornings. He was in the habit of having breakfast out with some friends and I used to call him on the way into town to my mother's house for breakfast. He was a good man and I miss his laugh and his smile. In honor of David Waste Management named the hunt/fund raiser after David this year. In his honor they had prepared a video with pictures of David - it was not easy to watch. Cindy Hausam and their son Jason and his wife and kids were in attendance, I know it was a hard day for them.

David's many friends continue to honor David by remembering him and his big heart, his easy laugh and his smile. John and Eddie thanks for your friendship to David and his family.

I killed a few dove and then drove back home last night, arriving at about 10:00 p.m. It made for a long day but my son and daughter-in-law were in and I was anxious to see them.
