American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Funds

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department has posted the projects that the Highway Commission just approved for spending the ARRA, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Funds (Federal Stimulus Dollars).

To see a list of all the projects click List of Projects to be Advanced Using ARRA Funds or to see a map of the projects click Map of Projects to be Advanced Using ARRA Funds.

Here are the projects that are scheduled for Senate District 20.

Hempstead County - Hwy 278/Hwy 29 Shover Rd Signal (Hope) $130,000
Hempstead County - Hazel St - Greenwood St Rehab (Hope) 1.67 miles $400,000
Hempstead County - Hwy 332 - Ozan Rehab 5.45 miles $900,000
Howard County - Hwy 371 Signals Rehab (Nashville) $260,000
Pike County - Kirby East Rehab 3.06 miles $900,000
Polk County - Hwy 71 Co Rd 16-Hwy 246 Passing Lane 1.40 miles $3,000,000
Polk County - Hwy 8 South & North Rehab 1.65 miles $550,000
Sevier County - Hwy 70 DeQueen West Rehab 1.01 miles $300,000

Total spending in Senate District 20 is $6,440,000. I am very frustrated that District 20 is not receiving a larger "piece of the pie" and I expect to visit this week with the Highway Department about that.

The Highway Department committed a total of $421,250,000 in total funding. This is more than the ARRA funds that are available. Some projects will be partially funded with ARRA funds, with the balance funded from other Federal-aid, State and/or local funds. These projects obligate $335,832,190 of ARRA.

Senator Teague,

I think I understand what you mean when you say you are "very frustrated that District 20 is not receiving a larger 'piece of the pie...'" However, that pie is a pork pie that was cooked from the paychecks of our children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

It would have been far better for our country if a REAL stimulus bill had been submitted --- not a temporary make-work spending spree.

And Speaker Pelosi is already talking about ANOTHER "stimulus."
