Martin Luther King's Birthday Celebration and Home

Today would have been the 80th birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In the Capitol rotunda this morning there was a nice ceremony honoring his birthday. There were a lot of children from the MLK campus in Little Rock, dignitaries - including most of the legislators and many others.
It was a good event.
It is the practice of the Senate to not work on Fridays until later in the session so I loaded up after lunch and headed home. I made a fairly lengthy detour in Arkadelphia to help my daughter change apartments and fed her supper before finally arriving home. I stopped by the office for a minute and have been here too long. I need to go home.
The photo above shows Senator Tracy Steele at the podium, Senator Joyce Elliot and Governor Beebe as he awaits his turn to speak.
I know that I will attend another celebration honoring Dr. King tomorrow here in Nashville. I hope to have some thoughts to share with you this weekend about my first week in the Senate.
