American Legion Post 427 Meeting

I drove over to Hope last night to meet with my friends at the American Legion Post 427 and Represenative Bubba Powers. The American Legion Post sponsors the Veteran's van that is used to provide transportation to Veterans back and forth to Little Rock. It is a great service, run on a shoe string budget with volunteer drivers. The last van was purchased a few years ago and is now getting close to the end of its useful life. I understand that Veterans from Hempstead, Nevada and Clark County use the van regularly

As the fund raising for a new van begins Represenative Powers made a very generous committment of $5,000 toward the purchase of a new van. An account has been opened at Summit Bank in Hope and donations may be made there.

It has never made sense to me that we make our Veterans travel to Little Rock for medical care. They should be able to receive the medical care that they need right here at home.

If you can help with a donation to the Van Fund please get in touch with one of the American Legion members, Representative Powers, myself or drop it by Summit Bank in Hope.
