Hiram T. Ward, M.D. Country Doctor of the Year

Friday night, December 7th, a large number of the friends and family of Dr. Ward gathered at the Murfreesboro School to recognize and honor Dr. Hiram Ward as the 2007 Country Doctor of the Year as awarded and sponsored by Staff Care. It would take way too much room to give all the details of the event. There were letters from President William Jefferson Clinton, Governor Mike Beebe, Senators Lincoln and Pryor, and Congressman Mike Ross and State Representative Randy Stewart. The most touching moments were the testimonies by Dr. Ward's friends and patients. It is not an understatement to say that the room was full of love, admiration and appreciation for Dr. Ward and his lifetime of service to the people of Pike County. Most recently he has come out of retirement in order to see patients and help keep the Pike County Memorial Hospital open. Rosemary Fritts, Administrator, Pike County Memorial Hospital submitted Dr. Ward's name to Staff Care.

Thank God for people called to care for and who love their fellow man. Clearly Dr. Ward heard the call and answered it with all of his being. Thank you Dr. Ward and may God Bless you and your family.
