Queen Wilhelmina Lodge Construction

This morning the legislators that attended the committee meeting in Mena took a tour of the progress on the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge at the Queen Wilhelmina State Park. One of the stars in the Arkansas State Park's crown.

The Lodge has been closed too long. The construction project should have been finished and the Lodge open for business. New management is in place on the construction project and we expect the Lodge to be open by the first of the year - hopefully sooner.

The photo above is of the new meeting room on the second floor. It is going to be a stunning view and a beautiful room.

Bringing jobs into rural Arkansas is tough. We need all the tourism dollars that we can get our hands on and those dollars can create jobs for local citizens.

My State Representative friend Nate Bell arranged for the committee meetings to be held in Mena. Good Job on your arrangements Nate. The weather this morning on the mountain top was wet and cold and windy. I didn't have warm enough clothes on to be out in the weather.

We will keep an eye on construction and continue to try to get the Lodge open as soon as possible.
