I was in Mt. Ida yesterday attending the Montgomery County Economic Opportunity Meeting at the Methodist Church. With the Munro Shoe manufacturing plant closing the regional economic development group was hosting the meeting. There were representatives from several state agencies. Bringing jobs into rural Arkansas is not any easy task. I look forward to working with everyone to be sure that the displaced employees receive all the training and education available to them and hopefully further employment and that we can find an industry to use the vacant building.
