The Herbert Littleton Detachment #1261 of the Marine Corp League had their annual banquet on Saturday night. I was invited to be the guest speaker and I really enjoyed the opportunity. My father, Herschell, was a 17 year old Marine in Korea. Mom said he arrived in Korea on Christmas Day 1952. I had several old Marine tales to tell but there just wasn't enough time. I think that I was the only three year old in Okay, Arkansas that could sing the Marine Corp Hymn.
Anyway, I had a good time and I appreciated the opportunity to visit with the group. There were quite a few there that I had never had the chance to meet before and I wish my old dad could have been there with me.
