First Responder School

I have spent the last couple of nights attending First Responder School at the Mineral Springs Fire Department. I have always been concerned that an accident might happen around me and that I would not have the knowledge to help. It also, appears to me that the laws concerning firefighting and all its related areas need to be reviewed and perhaps rewritten. One thing I do know is the more I know about a subject the better I am able to understand issues involving it.

It's great to see a legislator taking time to learn some of the skills volunteer and career firefighters use daily. Thanks for noticing the complicated maze of laws and paperwork that is complicating retention and recruitment of volunteers. I've been a firefighter for many years and am currently inactive because I've been away for work so much I can't keep my training hours in compliance. I've got hundreds of hours of training yet can't fight fire next to a rookie because of legal technicalities. Thanks for being involved! There is no substitute for firsthand knowledge.
