Senate's 37th Institute of Legislative Procedure

Here is the link to the Senate's website for a list of all committee assignments.

Today was the Senate's orientation and business meeting. We spent the morning meeting staff, touring the Senate facilities and discussing rules and approving some minor rule changes.

After lunch we gathered back up to draw for seniority. Of the six new Senators, David Johnson drew 30, Cecile Bledsoe 31, Johnny Key 32, David Wyatt 33, Joyce Elliot 34 and I drew 35. Not a great draw but I am glad to have the opportunity to serve in the Senate and I look forward to getting to work.

My committee assignments are Revenue & Tax and Transportation, Technology, & Legislative Affairs and Senate Rules Committee. I will also be a member of the Joint Audit Committee. I served on the Revenue and Tax Committee for my three terms in the House - vice chairing my middle term and chairing the committee my last term. While there is ususally plenty of hard work in the Revenue and Tax Committee it was a subject that I very much enjoyed.

I will write more later, we have just chosen offices and we are choosing parking places right now.
